Non-Invasive Pain Management for Pets
At Urban Vet Care, we’re committed to providing advanced, compassionate care that enhances your pet’s comfort and quality of life. That’s why we offer pet laser therapy—a safe, non-invasive treatment that reduces pain, speeds healing, and improves mobility without the need for surgery or medication.
How Laser Therapy Works
Pet laser therapy uses concentrated light energy to stimulate cell regeneration and increase blood circulation in targeted areas of the body. This photobiomodulation process triggers the body’s natural healing response, helping reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.
Each session takes just a few minutes. Most pets don’t require sedation, and treatment is painless—many patients find it soothing or even relaxing. During the session, we gently apply the handheld laser device over the affected area for about 3–8 minutes.
Common conditions treated with pet laser therapy include:
- Arthritis and degenerative joint disease
- Hip dysplasia
- Sprains, strains, and general musculoskeletal pain
- Surgical site healing (e.g., spays, neuters, orthopedic procedures)
- Lick granulomas, hot spots, and skin infections
- Chronic ear infections
- Dental inflammation or recovery from oral surgery
- Wounds, abrasions, and bite injuries
- Age-related stiffness or mobility issues
Signs Your Pet May Benefit from Laser Therapy
- Difficulty rising, jumping, or using stairs
- Limping or stiffness after rest
- Restlessness or frequent repositioning
- Licking or biting at specific areas
- Decreased activity or reluctance to play
- Trembling, whining, or changes in posture
- Decreased appetite or grooming behavior
If you’re noticing these changes, our team can help assess whether laser therapy is right for your pet.
What to Expect During a Treatment Session
Laser therapy is gentle, calming, and well-tolerated by most pets. In fact, many of our patients visibly relax during their session—some cats purr contentedly while dogs may even fall asleep.
You’ll stay with your pet during the treatment, and we’ll walk you through the process. Most pets begin showing improvement after just one or two sessions, depending on the condition being treated and the individual response. For chronic conditions like arthritis, a series of treatments may be recommended for lasting relief.
