Pet Acupuncture in Denver, CO
What Is Pet Acupuncture?
Whether used alone or alongside traditional veterinary care, acupuncture supports the body’s ability to heal and thrive, making it a valuable tool for pets dealing with chronic conditions, pain, or age-related changes.
How Pet Acupuncture Works
Acupuncture targets the flow of energy (Qi) through pathways called meridians. When that flow is disrupted by illness, injury, or stress, discomfort and disease can occur. By stimulating specific acupoints, we help restore balance and improve your pet’s physical and emotional well-being.
Each acupuncture session is personalized by Dr. Justine Barone, DVM, CVA —a certified veterinary acupuncturist with advanced training in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). Treatments are designed to be gentle and calming; many pets even relax or fall asleep during their session.
Common Conditions Treated with Acupuncture
Acupuncture can help relieve symptoms and improve outcomes in a wide range of health conditions, including:
- Arthritis and joint pain
- Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) and mobility issues
- Chronic gastrointestinal issues (vomiting, diarrhea, constipation)
- Urinary tract disorders
- Skin and allergy-related conditions
- Neurological disorders and seizures
- Post-surgical recovery and pain relief
- Respiratory conditions
- Immune system support
- Behavioral concerns and anxiety
- Muscle weakness or geriatric support
If your pet is struggling with chronic symptoms or pain that hasn’t responded to conventional treatment, acupuncture may offer new hope and comfort.
What to Expect During an Acupuncture Appointment
Your pet’s first visit begins with a comprehensive TCVM exam. Dr. Barone will review your pet’s intake form, medical history, personality, lifestyle, and current concerns. She will then create a customized treatment plan based on your pet’s needs and wellness goals.
Sessions are performed in a quiet, supportive environment. Most pets tolerate the procedure very well—some even look forward to it! Depending on your pet’s response, we may recommend a series of treatments for optimal results.
Referred by another veterinarian? No problem. We’re happy to collaborate with your primary vet to ensure continuity of care.
