Urban Vet Care is thrilled to announce that we are partnering with Children’s Hospital Colorado with a gift in support of the hospital’s medical dog program.
Urban Vet will be providing free care to the hospital’s three medical dogs (Halo, Galaxy, Pringles and Ruffles) supporting animal-assisted therapy for the patients at Children’s Colorado as well as a financial donation to the program. Urban Vet Care will be providing annual and routine medical services as well as any illness, injury, or surgical treatment required. Urban Vet’s goal is to keep the Children’s Colorado medical dogs happy and healthy without financial constraints.
The medical dogs at Children’s Colorado help motivate patients to meet their goals, make the clinical environment feel more like home, and give kids a reason to play and smile (even when they’re sick). Research has shown that interacting with a gentle, friendly pet has benefits including stabilizing blood pressure, diminishing pain, reducing anxiety and even encouraging communication. Expertly paired with clinically-trained team members, hospital dogs provide a gentle, calm presence in what can sometimes be a stressful experience for patients and their families.
