Dr. Rodrigo Vélez is originally from Mexico. Since he was 9 years old, he knew his passion was to work with animals. It was this passion which allowed him to obtain his DVM degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2013. While he was in the school, he had the chance be part of a wide range of externships; from sea turtle and whale shark monitoring off the Mexican shore, to wild fox research in Chile, to wildlife rehabilitation in Virginia.
Shortly after graduation, Rodrigo and his family (his wife Sophie and their two doggies Lumba, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and Mezcal, a Labrador mix) decided to move to Denver, Colorado where he has been practicing small animal medicine since 2014. Dr Vélez especially enjoys internal medicine and animal dentistry.
In his time off, Rodrigo enjoys spending time with his family hiking, camping, and exploring Colorado as well as watching the games of the Spanish Soccer League.
